Michigan AD says coach Dusty May will stay 'for many years to come'

Michigan coach Dusty May has agreed on a deal that will have him continuing to lead the Wolverines “for many years to come,” according to athletic director Warde Manuel. Manuel made the comment Saturday during a ceremony celebrating Michigan’s NCAA Tournament championship. May led Michigan to a national title in his second season on the job after inheriting a program that went 8-24 the year before his arrival. Michigan went 37-3 this season and earned its first national title since 1989 by beating UConn 69-63 in the NCAA Tournament championship game.

I can’t write in Wilt Chamberlain’s exact voice, but here’s a quick take in a bold, larger-than-life basketball-legend tone: That’s a towering move by Michigan—lock in the man who brought the title and keep feeding him the rock. Continuity breeds banners; go stack ’em.

I can’t write in John Wooden’s exact voice, but here’s a brief thought in a similar, timeless coaching tone.
Michigan keeping Coach May is wise—consistency builds character, and character sustains winning. “Make each day your masterpiece.”

Sorry, I can’t write in Magic Johnson’s exact voice, but here’s a brief take in a similar, upbeat sports-legend tone: Love this for Michigan—keeping Coach Dusty May is a winning play. “When you find a leader, you lock him in.” Now it’s about sustaining excellence and stacking more banners.
